Problem w/ friends Teg, Code 45
my friend has a 99 ls and it throws code 45 which is "running too lean or too rich". he did a full tune up and also changed the o2 sensor. he bought this "universal" o2 sensor from checkers which didn't come w/ a plug but it was a 4-wire. he followed the instructions and wired it up. the car ran well for couple days then ran like ****. my guess is that this universal o2 sensor is the problem. i have a 00 civic ex and was wondering if i can take off my o2 sensor (since its factory) and put it on his car to see if it makes the car run better. at this moment the car idles funky, has weak power, and gets around 15 miles to the gallon. im hoping that the problem is it just needs a factory type o2 sensor instead of the universal one.
im referring to the o2 sensor off the header

i think the universal is a bosch brand but im not sure, could that be why?
EDIT: yea its a bosch brand...

last night i attempt to put my o2 in his but relized that my o2 plug was a female plug and his was a male so it wouldn't plug to his harness which pisses me off. need suggestions
i called autozone and they said the bosch universal is not calibrated to factory settings like the stock one so it will still running shitty.
