Default problem with hawk pads

My shop recently installed hawk hps pads on the front of my car (stock rotors resurfaced) and the prolem is the damn shims keep coming lose. They are fine for a couple days then they come lose againand make a clunking sound when braking. My mechanic tought it was the shims that came with the pads so i had him install oem ones and it was fine for about a week but i hear that damn sound again. The mechanic used plenty of that glue compund and i trust him to do the job properly. Any help would be appreciated

That "glue compound" isn't really glue at all. What it is is anti squeal goop. It sits between the pad backing plate and the shim and help dampen any vibration so as to avoid squealing.

Personally, what I would suggest is to just remove the shims completely. The brakes WON'T squeal and you'll be just fine.

Strange. I've got the same pads and mine didn't come with shims. I used the stock shims with no problems so far (couple of months). Is it possible they're using so much antisqueel compound that the shim isn't snapping into place? I use a nice thin layer and don't have squeeling or clunking.
