Default Power Fall off problem!

OK see if you can follow me on this one. When I ride around in my teg and my gas tank gets to be under half a tank, my car shuts off whenever I brake quickly. Example I'm doing 35-40 on the street and a light turns red, so I brake quickly to stop, my car will shut off and my oil light and battery light will lite up. However this only happens when im sitting on half a tank or less of gas, when I fill her up, problem doesnt occur. Has this happened to anyone? or can anyone offer an explaination of this situation? i'm thinking its my fuel injectors?

I don't think the injectors care how much gas is in the tank, unless it's actually empty. So how about the fuel pump's pickup inside the tank?

I think the pump sucks thru a screen of some kind down in the tank. Check whether it's half blocked with crud.

but how would you explain the problem of this ONLY happens when im at half a tank or under? sitting at full it wont happen? Perhaps what your saying is the pump isnt doing its job well when the tank is at half and the actual pump itself is dirty?

It just seems like it has to be in there somehow, because the pump is the only thing that knows or cares whether the tank is full or half or almost empty. Unless the pump is cavitating, everything downstream from the pump can't tell.

Pump going bad might cause cavitation, but a dirty pickup screen is simpler. Seems to me it's worth a look.
