Im about to buy an 98 GSR, theres a problem i am concerned about, the engine will like jump while its idling. but the rpms do not drop, and it does not do it while im driving, is this a motor mount problem?

 

sounds like a motor mount to me What happens when u rev it do u see excess movement

I'm confused... Define "jump."


When does it do it.... all the time? (all the time it's idling?)

 

Get it checked out by a good mechanic. If the seller won't let you than it might be shady and something could be wrong with the car.

Be smart and get it checked out first.

yes define your definition for "jump"

at ild the motor shouldn't be jumping or shaking at all...it could have small vibration...it only have a strong shake when it ignition-start up then it must settle after that...and calm when it gets warmer

problem can be (possibilities but not warranty that it is)
1. motor mount are losen or some speical motor mount might have installed in your engine's bay
2. motor is running way too lean
3. is your weather cold? or etc
4. air intake is choking the motor at start up check for clogged
5. starter is dying out
6. miss timing
