The other day as i was comming to a stop my clutch had very little pedal effort and it now instead of catching very late, i have to press the clutch all the way to the floor to get it to shift. The clutch still grips pretty well though. If you know what might be wrong with it please let me know. THanks in advance.
try bleeding your clutch. works just like bleeding your brakes. there is a bleeder valve on the slave cylinder which is on the tranny in the front. put a clear hose on it, top off the master cylinder, have someone depress the clutch and hold, then you open the valve. if you have air in the line, fluid will bubble out...if that's the case, close the valve, let off the clutch, you'll need to pull the pedal back up. repeat that process until a nice steady stream of fluid comes out.
what kind od tranny do you have is it cable or hydrolic? if you have the hydrolic then follow what carl_aka_carlos is telling you, but if you have a cable tranny then all you need to do is shorten your clutch cable by adjusting it near the release fork.

Thanks for the advice. I tried bleeding my clutch twice and that didnt help much. THe clutch still grabs ok(i can still burnout and stuff) but i have to push the clutch all the way to the floor to get it to shift and even then i can tell that it is not completely disengaged. Also as soon as i start hte car the first time i push in the clutch it feels fine but after that the pedal effort down and it catches really early. Ive been told that i may have to replace my master cylinder or the slave. If you guys have any other ideas please let me know. THanks alot. BTW, this is for a 96 teg gsr
It sounds like the slave cylinder. To see if the master is in need of replacement, check the area of the firewall where it comes through from the engine bay, near the pedal linkage. Usually, when the master cylinder needs replacing, you'll be able to see fluid leaking down the firewall from the master cylinder. The slave cylinder is mounted to the tranny. If the master isn't leaking, I'd be inclined to say the slave needs replacing.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Yeah, my integ's outta commission waiting for my clutch master cylinder to come. i had the same problem that was described...tried bleeding, didn't work, then checked my firewall and noticed that there was some fluid. I think my master had been leakin for awhile....oh well
