Default Performance Mods I will never do...

I've done some mods that I have subsequently removed, or else regretted later, such as:

Slotted Brake Rotors (warp-o-rama)
Filter-On-A-Stick (worthless!)

Others I consider way too expensive and/or dangerous to do (even if the performance gains could be awesome):

Turbo
Head Milling
NOS

yah on the slotted rotors, I have since changed to BIGGER brakes, not pretty brakes.

~It was a waste of time for the pretty brakes... should have gone big in the first place. DOH!

you think head milling too dangerous/pricey? My local shop qouted me $35 to mill the head .020", as long as I am the one that disassembles it. Now, that is not an expensive mod, just time consuming!

I think I need to get rid of my cross drilled rotors as well...and upgrade to bigger.

Damn these brakes are starting to suck..they get way mushy after breaking from 90 MPH just once

Stupid stock HX brakes.

Maybe not too pricey- but if the milling isn't done with great care, the results can be disaster: taking too much off, plunging too far with the end mill, not being completely level, that sort of thing could result in buying a new head.

Filter on a stick sucks. Cold air is where the power's at!

I don't know...filters are too overhyped definately.....
especially cold air filters....BAD THINGS CAN HAPPEN.....
i'd rather invest in the comptech intake kit...
that includes the cold air box.....no chance of water injestion since it's pullin air from behind the turn signal....and the pipe and filter kit from comptech...and the box is directing air to the filter instead of the filter being the sole source of the air injestion
or better yet if you have money....the mugen intake kit......
Honda made the air delivery to your car efficient...why not use their idea and make it better....instead of makin drastic shortcuts

I voted nos, but turbo is a close second with the slotted rotors a very close 3rd.

I dont have a problem with one thing on that list...

If you are educated and know what youre doing, every single one of those modifications has a very good purpose.

Why you ask? Let me explain.

There are advantages to a cold air intake setup that do not come from the cooler air...which a conventional setup can not provide.
the length of the intake has a huge impact on air delivery into the engine due to the resonance caused (by the length).

Take a look at these:

Trsut me..the surge in power between 4200 and 5200 RPMs is not due to cooler air..especially since the results are fro ma dyno..where a regular intake gets the same air as a cold air setup.

whats your take on intakes while the car is moving? when the car is moving, isnt air constantly moving in and out of the engine bay?

Don't count the turbo out so soon.
