When you shake it, it doesn't make any noise?

You sure it's good?

the valve should make noise. wheathers its new or not. If it dont its either defective or broken.

I'd say include it in the regular tune up. along with spark plugs, wires, rotor, cap, pcv valve etc.

If you shake the PCV valve it should make a rattling sound. If it doesn't, then the little piece of plastic inside is too caked in oil (or just broken), in which case you can either replace it or try spraying it with carb cleaner.

I usually just spray mine with carb cleaner but you can replace it too...

carb cleaner might be safer than brake cleaner incase it runs into the engine.
