Overheating...!
My 94 gsr is overheating. There are 2 coolant hoses connecting to the firewall behind the intake manifold, one of them wich has a little black box on it with a wire sticking out. If i jiggle that hose coolant sprays everywhere. I think that black box is clogged somehow & its not letting coolant pass through to the other side of the hose. My question is what purpose does that box serve, does it contain some kind of valve? Any input is appreciated, Thanx.
Those hoses go to the heater core inside the car. The box is the heater control valve & the wire comes from the temperature control slider. That shouldn't cause your overheating since when you set it to cold, that valve is closed anyway.
But if that's messed up, maybe your thermostat is messed up too. Or maybe your radiator is clogged. Either one of these could cause the overheating.

Well, this all happened right after i finished installing the rear motor mount. To have more room I pulled the hose out of the end of the box that doesn't have the wire on it & stuck a piece of rubber in the box to keep it from leaking while I worked on the mount. I took the piece of rubber out when i was done & connected it up again. Would this damage the valve causing it to not let coolant pass through?......And what did you mean by if its set to cold the valve should be closed anyway.
If it is set to cold the valve won't allow any coolant to pass. A blocked heater core should never cause overheating if the rest of the cooling system is healthy.

I musta had a semi clogged heater core....I flushed the system..then my heater core starting leakin, lol. Acura solved this for free tho

Well i just went outside & let the car idle for a few minutes & the temp gauge was okay. Then I tapped the gas slightly & it started to rise. The upper radiator hose is warm & the lower is cold, & the heater blows cold air.
That could still be either a stuck-closed thermostat or a plugged radiator. Change your thermostat first, it's pretty cheap & easy. Maybe you can take off the radiator cap & try to look around inside??

See, if the radiator is clogged up, and it doesn't let much flow through, then what little water gets thru has plenty of time to cool off. But there's not enough flow to cool the engine.

Don't know about the leaking hose but if you have an air trap in your system somewhere it will cause overheating problem. I found this out when I changed my coolant...overheating even after refilling my radiator properly and it was blowing no heat. Air block in the heater core system. I installed a tee the heater hose that runs below the intake tube and forced water in there with my garden hose. Started up the car, instantly blowing heat and my overheating problem disappeared.
