Default Overheating!

My car has NEVER overheated before. I have had it for 9 months and had 17,000 miles when I got it. I turboed it at 21,000 miles and new valves, springs, etc. at 24,000 miles now im at 32,000 miles and everthing has been great. But for the last month or so when you shut the car off, you could hear the radiator cap letting air out. Just today I went to a buddies house left the car running and went inside for 15mins came back out and it had over heated, the overflow can was overflowing coolant on the ground and the temp gauge was maxed out any ideas?

I searched and someone recommened change the radiator cap... so ive done that and still nothing...

Change the thermostat my turbo car overheated and I thought the gasket was blown but it was the thermostat that was gone. I hope it’s the thermostat just stake it out and test it.
