Hey guys... i have 148k on my B18c1 block with a b16 head.... i am burning 1/2 qt of oil so far in about 500 miles....there is a smell of something burning when i push it...usually after vtec...however i do not see smoke coming out...

i have changed the valve cover gasket but i do see a shine around the oil fill cap area...let me know what you guys think?

get a compression/leakdown test right? if i'm burning that much oil shouldn't there be smoke coming out? thanks.

 

valve guides or seals.. thats what mines doing.. and im changing my seals this weekend!

Chngeovr99 how much did you get the valve guides/seals for and as for installation are you doing it yourself? if so give me some pointers...

no leakdown test yet...

well i changed my plugs ... one plug had some oil on it.... also i read about PCV system too? when i got the car, i put one in it because there wasn't one, but i haven't hooked it up to the can yet... could that also be the culprit?

as for the valve seals i'm going to change them first and see what happens after....

it's really strange that i do not see smoke coming out of the car but i do smell burning when i drive it hard...i'll have someone follow me when i gun it to see next time.
