obd2 to obd 1 conversion question

Default obd2 to obd 1 conversion question

i have a 96 gsr planning on converting my OBD II to OBD I for tunning purposes but mainly do i need to do anymore than getting the conversion harness and an OBD I ECU?

thats all you need..be sure you order the obd2A-1 (version A or Version 1) conversion harness.

cool thanks. thats what i thought but just wanted to make sure. getting a harness off of boomslang fabrication $74 shipped

you're also going to need to change your distributor to obd1 since you are running an obd1 ecu

Yes, that's handled in the harness. . .

That's a bad rumor that got started long ago - I was misinformed on that for a long time myself.

i guess you have to rewire the distributor, rather than replacing it with an obd1. here's the chart on how to rewire obd2 distributor to obd1

You do not need to do that.... all you really need is the correct version obd2-1 conversion harness and an obd1 ecu thats right for your motor/mods. Its plug and play....as for doing the obd0-1 conversion, there's more involved.

got the ecu in and everything currently running the old set up my friend was running but retuning it next week rev limits at 8500 pretty much stock internals except for type r lost motion assem.

my 98 gsr (obd2a) to obd1 harness worked great.

make sure if your running a stock intake manifold that the polarity to the vtec solenoid is reversed.
