Default OBD1 gsr dizzy code 9 help

Ok so my gsr throw's a code nine.I have looked it up all that jazz every one says just to replace the whole unit. But it does not effect my car i get ok mpg and vtec still pulls hard. And some time's the light will not come on aslong as i do not pass 3k rpm.But when it does that seems like it drives funny with the cel off for a lil.I bought the car with this problem and have drove to cali twice and its been on for a year. But now that i am going to get new tags i have to do a smog test.Lets say i do not change it will i fail or should i be fine.Car does not smoke burn oil leak oil vtec always pops idle is good never jumps.

Mods
Zero1000 powachanaba intake (lol)
Hypertech headers
Typeone racing exhaust still have the cat on
Msd wires
aem true time cams
itr shafts
itr vlaves.

Sounds like a loose connection with the CYP sensor wire. Follow the wire, check for breaks and make sure all connectors along the way have a good connection. You can use a meter set to resistance to probe both sides of a connector or both ends of the entire circuit while you wiggle the connector and see if the circuit breaks. You could also run a fresh wire to bypass any bad connections.

Sorry, I took this to mean that you tried replacing it but it didn't affect the problem. You can check the wires like I said before but if you haven't replaced the distributor, you probably should.

Yeah it'll cost less and should carry the same lifetime warranty as a new one.
