is this normal? comptech exhaust install *pic*
is it just me or is something not normal about my exhaust? the resonator hangs really low and i scrape it all the time. One guy mentioned my S looking pipe might be the wrong way. Also notice how my muffler is tilted. Please help, i cant stand the constant scraping.
thanks.

Looks like they forgot to connect the hanger or something.

Had to get the piping extended? Sounds like that's probably the root of the problem. Why did it need to be extended and perhaps they didn't weld it up straight.

the exhaust was originally for a ls so i had to get it extended a bit to fit my 98 gsr. I remember at the shop when the resonator was pushed up by the guy everything looked perfect.

well actully I dont think it has much to do with welding. I have the same problem and my setup is for my LS so it should be fine. But the resonator sits a little lower.
I used the same rubber hanger as I had stock. I dont know why this is but I know I have the same problem and the scraping is annoying when going into driveways.
Perhaps the old hangers (stock ones) are worn out, and "sag" more then they should.
I even tried to use a clamp to hold it to the height shield above it, although it was a pretty good way of solving the problem, it shortly began to rattle, so I havent worked out a solution since. but the clamp had to go.

When a shop was cutting the heat shields off my stock piping, they cut off the hangers right below the shifter for some reason, then welded them back on. Now my resonator hangs lower than normal and it scrapes on the slightest of inclines.

nah I have stock exhaust... they cut the heat shields off trying to get rid of the rattle that turned out to be my manifold.

so what exactly are you pointing at? if it has a hanger it's most likely hanging isnt it?
so why is it so low? anyone with a comptech system who doesnt have this problem? maybe we can shed some light on this

definitely go look under the car and see if they missed any hangers.
You can try zip ties on the rubber thingy's at least that is what SCC did (sport compact car) as a initial solution and get new rubber hangers if they look like they are sagging.

As far as I know, all the hangers on my setup are being used. Whether it is the rubber things themselves I am unsure of. I will try to investigate, I know a few people with the exhaust, I'll see how their setup is.
Maybe some new rubber will solve the problem, but its too cold for me to mess around with it now, I'll wait until Spring.
