idk if should have started this here but i'm new to honda tech. my names ryan and i just bought a 97 integra ls and am thinking about doing a b20 swap (non vtec) turbo'd. has anyone else done this before? just give me some feed back on what you guys think. i know the cylinder walls are then so i'm paying a pretty penny to get it sleeved.

keep the LS and boost it.

a b20 is basically a LS already bored out. yeah the walls are weak and u gotta get them sleeved. if your going to turbo it doesnt really matter if u use ur LS or even a B20. turbo is turbo, u will see GREAT numbers no matter what.

also a b20 in a 2door integra is REALLY hard to get it bar'dl; it will say "small truck motor in economic car" and u wont pass smog. you'll save money if u just sleeve ur LS and bore it out then boost it. itll be more reliable than a b20.

Dont quote me on this but isnt it right that since a b20 has thinner cylinder walls even after sleeeving it u should not boost alot of psi through it because sleeves can crack especially on thin walls. I say LS.

just make sure, i know alot of people dont think this especially when boosting there first car is when your gonna be boosting something building the motor or not mistakes happen. so if something is gonna happen and destroy stuff make sure you can quickly replace them parts with stuff that is readily available, especially if its a daily driver.

like you get the b20, build it up something screws up like you spin a rod bearing and throw the piston thru the side of the block. do you feel like paying $500 or more for something for parts which will be harder to find then something for $150-$200 (B18).

there are more B18's out there than B20's. and from my (not so much experience) but browsing for sale stuff in different forums i see maybe 1 B20 for sale out of 3 sites i view. for a ridiculous amount of money.

Boost the B18.

I really dont understand why people bother building B20s for turbo setups. If you want 500ish whp, get any other B series block and build a simple piston/rod combo and you're good to go. The B20 is the worst pick of all the B series blocks UNLESS you want to sleeve.
