Default Newb girl racer

Hi my name is Yolanda from Puerto Rico, i just bought a Acura INtegra LS 1991 bone stock. Some day i will love to run 14 secs. at the race track.

I have a couple of questions, first of all this is my wish list

CAI
Header
2.25 exhaust
ground wire kit
Iridium plugs
Light weight pulleys
fpr
clutch and flywheel
short shifter
and please complete the list si i can run at leat 14.9 secs. and i consider my self a good driver.

Witch is better: Short ram intake or cold one?
4-2-1 header or 4-1?
this summer i will rebuilt the engine, what higher compression pistons do you recomend? What else do i need to reach my goal or to make it easer and less expensive

sorry about my grammar, im from Puerto Rico and English is my second lenguage

short ram for mid range
cai for high end
since you dont have vtec I say you get short ram

421 mid rangee
4-1 highend, get a 4-2-1

forget all the other ****, get intake, header, exhaust, test pipe, intake manifold, cames, and tune

forget all that other stuff, you wont be making enough power to need a racing clutch

You're on a pretty good start, auto or 5spd?

Cold air is more low end, and SRI is better for top end, more flow.

And so on for the exhaust, 4-1 top end, 4-2-1 lower end.

If you wanna stick with stock pistons,
you could go for ITR pistons, or CTR, i think the ctr are higher comp.

Don't worry too much about "Special" plugs,
I get bosch dual plat and I'm very happy with them.

Do Not get a cheap shortshifter, b&m, edelbrock, and skunk2 would be good choices.
I don't see how much you'd actually need a ground wire kit,
You can actually just do it yourself, get heavy/heavier gauge wire,
and reground spots and also ground spots that Aren't but would be good choices.

I'd say, Gsr/b16 tranny, along with some higher comp pistons and good cams,
you'd easily pull 14s, along with all the extras to go along with.

Ummm..... I think with those mod's, and a 1/2 decent driver you can get 14's easy.

Cold air for the top end?

Pretty sure it's more torque wise, and for lower end.

Longer piping in turn makes it longer for air to get to the IM,
thus the SRI being better in the Top end because it comes in faster.

Hello and welcome. You are off to a good start already, seems like you know a thing or two about cars. Dont worry your english is fine, at least it is clear and understandable. I would recomend a 4-1 header and a cold-air intake. Like mentioned above some integra type-R pistons would bump up your compression ratio and you could look into some cams maybe. good luck

why would you want to get more midrange power for drag racing, when you're in the top end almost the entire time?

it'd probably be cheaper getting a gsr motor and that will put you into the 14s NA

LS can definitely hit 14s, but it will be much easier to do NA with a b16 or gsr tranny, which i highly recommend.

Cold air is better for all rpms because it comes down to the mass of oxygen you can get into the cylinder. colder air means more dense.

As far as your reasoning for top end being better due to shorter length, it doesn't apply here. Your theory would apply if dealing with the distance from the collector to cylinder. Such is the case with the distance from the throttle body to the head on the intake side, and from the header collector to the head on the exhaust side. This is evident on gsr's where there is IAB and with headers which can change your torque curve. What you are saying is analagous to moving your muffler forward on your car to get better high end.

Finally, horsepower is a function of torque and rpm, so they are always related.

Yolandita,

Do your research on here. Read alot of magazines and go after books at your local book store. Being a good driver comes down to natural talent and seat time. Personally, I'd say you need to go LS-T for your goal time.
