Need some advice! Map senor problem or something else?
Okay,
I just put a new head on 90 Integra. It had a high idle (3K or higher) problem, so I checked everything and decided it was the intake manifold gasket and replaced it. I fired the car up and idle is lower about 2K - I figure it will lower once warmed up and the coolant circulates to the FITV. It does not lower, but the coolant doesn't seem to be circulating so I replaced the thermostat and opened the air purge valve going into the head. It has run and run, but the FITV seems to see be sucking air when warm AND the engine is not running cool. I wonder if there is still air trapped in the head/block - the car ran for 30 minutes.
Also, the engine has a the problem with the idle raising and lowering. The only thing that seems to cure the problem is unplug the MAP sensor hose going into the intake manifold. If I unplug the MAP vacuum line the idle is perfect - 750 RPM for an automatic. However, I hook up the MAP and the idle goes up and down 1K RPM.
I replaced the MAP, the Purge and Regulator Solenoids (they're all on the same bracket) and still the same idle problem until I unplug the vacuum line.
PLEASE, I need some help on these problems (heating issue and idle).
Thanks,
Adam
