Default Need help understanding this part.

I was just over looking at my buddies 92 integra today and we were both curious as to what this box was. It looked like it was some kind of vacuum box or modulator??

What are the hoses connected to? The MAP sensor is on the fire wall IIRC.

Didn't really take the time to follow the hoses but, if I remember correctly it looked like they all just met up around the top of the intake manifold. It just didn't look like a map sensor to me if it is one.

This will be an automatic-equipped vehicle. Those are EGR-related parts inside that box.

Thank you. You're correct, it was an automatic but hey recently converted it over to a 5 speed; does he no longer need those EGG parts?

Does the car still have a the egr equiped intake manifold with the egr valve still on it? cause if it does then i would just leave it on cause the egr valve still needs it if its attached, unless the pcm has been swapped with one that doesnt run egr then you could remove it all

EGR was only ever installed on automatics for the 3rd Gen Integra.

Follow the lines to wherever they go. Do they just stop nowhere, or are they capped off? If so, you can get rid of all of the EGR stuff on the firewall.

But if some of the lines terminate on a device at the top of the intake manifold, best leave the EGR stuff alone, as it may actually still be functional.

To see if EGR is functional, unplug the vacuum lines from the devices on the firewall, and see if 1) the engine's behavior changes, and 2) if the Check Engine light illuminates. If no to both, then the EGR equipment is likely non-functional and may be removed.
