Default need help w my DA!!!!

After sum long discussions and debates ive decide not to put a H22 in my 92 DA for the reason that i want to push more than the H22 can give me for the amount of $$$ i wanna put in rite now. Ive decide to slap a turbo on ASAP, and then build the block, and lastly build the head. Here is what ive *** up w for building the block. Ive never rebuilt an import, only old muscle cars w/ my mom, so this is all new. Can ne1 tell me what else ill need, and what sum good brands are? (I don’t mind sum used stuff, as long as its not ****)

For the Block
Want to spend $1800-2500
Pistons
Rods
Rings
Sleeves

Here is what i have for the head:
Want to spend $3200-4000
Port & Polish
Valve Job
Stage 2 cams
Titanium Retainers
Valves
Dual spring valve springs
Adjustable cam gears
High flow intake manifold
70mm throttle body
Fuel rail
Fuel pressure regulator
Fuel pump

Turbo:
Want to spend $3000
I was thinking of getting the Greddy set up, but I really like the turbonetics t3/t4.
Hondata
Boost gauge
Oil pressure gauge
Air fuel ratio gauge

Instead of giving us a big list of parts you want, tell us what kind of power you want to make, what the car will be used for, and your total budget.

well your gonna want to go with low compression pistons (crower, arias) with the matching rods. For the head go with turbo cams (skunk 2) and it seems you kinda know what you want for everything else. Your also gonna want to relocate your battery.

If you want to make BIG power, which I hope you do for building up the engine and head like that, you need to go with a different kit. With sleeves the sky is the limit, and It would be almost a waste to sleeve for 300whp. Id say go with a full-race kit, they are very high quality and make tons of power. Good luck with the build.

First off, you may not need to relocate your battery. It all depends on the kit you decide to buy. There's no point in relocating it if the kit doesn't require it.

I understand that you want to beat me and Im cool with that (never going to happen though!!) When you do end up building your block, I would sleeve it incase you do decide to make some serious horsepower. I wouldn't get a full race kit because you still want it to be streetable and daily driven. A drag 3 or turbonetics kit would be best. You can always upgrade from there if you choose to. You have quite a few parts on your list. I can tell you that if you only want to put in 7-8gs, then alot of those parts, you wont be getting! With the money you want to spend, you can get a kit, big injectors (550-750cc), hondata, gauges: boost, oil pressure, air/fuel, and egt, fuel stuff: rail, regulator and pump, and most likely build the block. That's about it. Maybe more though, depending on where you buy and install it.

A supercharger does boost. What supercharger are planning on though, because there are many issues with SCing a DA, like the firewall being too close?

In the DA you can't run the Jackson Racing SC because their isnt' room between the block and the firewall.

At least 1 G2ic member got a Vortech SC to work on his GSR, but it took a lot of work. No one makes an SC specifically for the DA anything you would do would have to be custom setup for that application.

Point being, if you have a DA you are way better off going with a turbo than a supercharger. Way more off the shelf options, and much easier to upgrade later if you decide you want more power.

You never did mention if you have a B18a or a B17a in your DA

i have a B18a.

i was gunna go for a turbo, but they seem such high maintenance. all i want to do is add a SC then slowly build my engine.

What make you think that superchargers are any less maintenance? Especially since you will have to have a custom one done for your car.

most of the cars i have had in the past had SC on them, and i never had a problem. i have had 1 car w a turbo and it was nothing but probs. plus my bf has a turbo on his gsr and its been acting up since he put it on. im not saying they are bad, I've seen plenty are cars that run great w them. im just sayin i though it wud be easier throwin on a sc

Well good luck with it regardless, if you get a SC setup in your DA, definately post up some pics and let us know how it goes.

What kind of turbo setup is in your bf's GSR?. I have a Greddy turbo kit in my Si, and its been great as far as reliability and maintenance. Granted you can do more performance wise and make easier upgrades to some of the other "kits" out there, but for intro boost, its excellent.
