Need help!!!
Hey everyone,
I dont have a real serious problem but I would like to solve it. First, problem everytime I start to slow down at a light or stop sign, I keep hearing like a bushing rubbing sound or the brake pads rubbing its pretty annoying. Second, problem everytime I rev over 4k I hear a metal rattling sound I think its my cat heat shield but im not 100% sure. I usually never shift above 3k anyway but its bothers me that my car only has like 40K on it and there is a metal rattling sound. Can I just take off my heat shield, will that cause any problems without a heat shield. Thanks everyone in advance.

Your rattling sound may be a heat shield, but it may also be in the stock header if you have that on. If it does end up being your heat shields, you can take them off with no problem. People say that the cabin may heat up a little... but I have never noticed any difference.
Rubbing sound... if you smell brakes, it's might be a seized caliper, if you don't smell brake dust... maybe you should have your axles checked out.

Sorry, I really dont know what brake dust smells like it. Is it an obvious smell that I would notice when stepping out of my car or is it something I need to smell for. What I just said might not make sense but I have no idea what brake smell like.
If you want to know what it smells like... accelerate and then press the brakes pretty hard, you don't have to screech the tires or have the ABS kick in, but just enough so your pads will heat up, then when you get out of your car and go near the fendor, you should smell something. Don't smell too much of it as it's not good for you.
You could always goto a local shop and ask to see some brake pads and smell those... but I think when they are actually used, it smells a bit different.
