i have an 90 teg with a b16a. ok last night i was sitting at the gas station and my car started to smoking really bad and wanted to shut off. i shut it off and looked and my lower radiator hose busted. my intake sits right on top of where it busted and i think some coolant got sucked up into my intake. i got the hose fixed and drive it home but it had no power and sounded really bad. no knocking. just the sound of my exhaust was bad. can ne one tell me if this is a simple fix or am i looking at something bad?
When you say busted. did the hose fully blow apart? or did it spring a needle size hole and squirt out. I am trying to gauge how much coolant may have possibly went into your intake. Small amounts of water and coolant wont do anything but a gallon of water thrown on your intake filter at a middle range RPM will hydrolock your motor or severly damage it. Are you sure your exhaust manifold did not crack? Any pics of your setup? Also maybe something else went bad in the motor that caused the hose to burst also, like a clog or sumthin.

the hose busted big hole... i dotn think the manifold cracked and as soon as i sen smoke i shut it off...i was just sitting still when it happened about 1100 idle... i think it just got hot because my eng fan is not kicking on... sry no pics
hey dude, if you did suck in a lot of coolant you should start by doing a compression test to see
if you bent a connecting rod. Even though you only saw a small amount of coolant in the intake, your engine would have alreay sucked most of it through. Coolant can also damage your oxygen sensors, causing misfires and loss of power.
