Default need advice!

i drive a 97 integra LS and my maintenance light came on not too long ago. i was wondering how to make the light go away. it doesn't have a keyhole to stick the car key in like accords to get rid of the light, so i'm really lost on how to fix it. does the brand of gas you use really matter? i heard "shell" gas is bad and that it burns quicker than others. so i don't use shell gas but lately shell has been cheaper than the other gas! i heard "chevron" burns cleaner than other gas but they are really expensive. i didn't hear anything about 76 and thats what i use. and those non-brand name gas like valero, olympian, arco, etc., i heard they burn the quickest because they're cheap. so are any of these things true or are they just rumors/myths?
my integra is an automatic and when i shift from D3 to D4, my foot is still on the throttle. my friend said that i should let go of the throttle, shift, and then gas after shifting. does it really matter if i let go of gas or not while shifting from D3 to D4?

1) if your car is anything like my 99 gsr, there is this black box with a white square button under your steering column. i think you leave you key on the on position and hold the button until the light goes away. something to that effect, i don't remember exactly

2) gas is gas. i fill with costco, mobile, and 76 (whatever's cheaper considering distance)

3) for automatic, it doesn't matter.
