Default NA GSR setup: 180-190 WHP possible? Check it...

Alright.. Heres where I'm at on my NA setup and what I've decided on.. Lemme know whatcha think:

60,000 mile b18c1
ITR cams
ITR valve springs (intake cam only)
Skunk 2 Cam gears
JDM ITR Pistons
AEBS Intake Manifold (port/polish, clean up the runners, gasket match)
Hondata IM Gasket
Head milled .010
Light port and polish (clean up the runners, gasket match, nothin special)
Stock Headgasket
ITR Header, 2.5 collector
Greddy 2.5 exhaust
Phearable tuned ECU

All that=180-190 whp?

My compression would be (approx) 11.2 per http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...c.php

Should be a pretty mean lil NA setup me thinks

polishing is unnecessary....no shop polishes runners/ports on your engine....thats not where polishing occurs...its possible to achieve your goal but too many factors involved to say youll necessary make it...i just saw the phearable tuned ecu...by phearable tuned do you mean actually going for a tune...or running a basemap...if you run a basemap kiss the dream goodbye

Note: it is possible to make 200 whp NA on the gsr head without porting it...something to think about

porting is done when you have reached the maximum flow capacity of the head...which you will not do with 190 whp...save your money

I never knew Greddy made a 2.5" exhaust.

I think 180+ is very achievable with your setup.

well the setup looks good besides the plans on the pnp...save your money cause it wont be neccessary for 180 whp...

very possible, but i think u mite need to get more aggressive cams. i'm n/a rite now and dyno'd at 187 whp. would have been more but they made me put my stock muffler on. (BASTARDS!)

that header and those cams are going to hold you back but sounds like a good mild set-up. oh yea and in response to the PnP, i didnt get a PnP head until i made 217 whp. something to keep in mind, spend that money elsewhere for more power

For the ITR valve springs, do you mean just the itr inner valve springs on the intake side? If you're going to be doing all that work, you might as well upgrade your valve train as well...possibly omni or rocket motorsports? Then get some stage 2 cams; skunk2/blox b's/etc.

As for your set up listed above, if you do just that and get the ecu dyno or street tuned, you should be in the mid 180's. I was going to go the SAME exact route as you since I researched A LOT! This seems to be the most reliable and safest build if tuned properly. GO with bigger cams, you'll probably be pushing somewhere around the 200whp range! Good luck!

I agree with 1H8RICERZ ... 200whp is possible with your setup. There's one guy in my area abouts, who I believe is running the same setup, and is making 204 to the wheels.

It's been done. So it should work, and very effectively.

Yeah he's right. All the GReddy NA exhausts are 2.25.

Then the guy I bought the car from was mistaken or lied to me.. He said it was 2.5 and I assumed he was correct.

And I think theres some misunderstanding on the port & polish.. I guess I didnt explain well enough what I meant..

I'm not gonna drop 800 into a P&P or anything.. I just wanted to smooth out the runners, just to rid any castings there may be and gasket match..Thats it. Imean, I 100A% agree w/not sending the head off and havin it worked on.. A waste of money w/what I have in mind.

I'm scared messin w/bigger cams over stock for the fact of gas mileage. I can do this and pretty much stay where I am in mileage.. I"m sure if I upgraded cams, since the primaries are bigger than stock, that I'd lose some MPG.

Thanks for the info though, it's appreciated.

i would guess around high 180's to low 190's for your setup .. and greddy does make a 2.5 exhaust system .. its been discontinued long time ago .. its called the power extreme

I used to have that exhaust. It was not 2.5". It was a combo of 60mm and 70mm. IIRC, the 70mm part was on the rear section only. However, I do not think it will prevent the OP from making 180whp.

I am going for the same goal as you. i already had a valve job done on the head and have flat top valves to bump to comp. I might drop in some Mahle pistons. as for the cams all you really need is the intake cam the exhaust cam is basically the same for the type r and gsr. As for the pnp yeah don't waste the money on it you get more out of a good valve job. The Skunk2 stage 2 cams are a waste too. The stage 1 are the same as gsr cams and the stage 2 or like type r's. Go with crower cams. if anything throw on a slightly bigger throttle body.

not quite...stage 1's are slightly more aggressive than ctr's (the most aggressive OEM) and stage 2's are far more aggressive than anything honda makes...
