Default my dc2 is having some issues

here is the scenario:

i was driving on the highway and i hit a bump. my exhaust piping (after the cat) started to drag on the ground. all of a sudden... my temp gauge went all the way to hot, and i pulled over and quickly shut off the car.

i waited 20 minutes and tried to start the car. NOTHING!!! my gauges light up, but no spark, no clicking, nothing! i tried a jump start, and no luck. i really dont know what to do...

any ideas?

EDIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 01-21-08
Ok... In regards to my car and the no start issue i was unclear on a couple things.

1. The fuel pump does not prime
2. The check engine light does not pop up on the dash when the key is turned on, however when i go to the crank position and go back to the on position... The oil light and check engine light comes on very very faintly!

Did you check if there's still oil in the engine?! Lol... Oil or coolant lost would be my guess :S
Especially with the temp gauge acting as it did.

Hope you figure it out buddy

you said that there was no spark at all??? is the engine turning over, but just wont run???

if there is NO SPARK what soever... check the coil and ignighter... it sounds a lil wierd but , i kno in my friends b18c5, we was rippen the **** out of the car and hit this pot hole that was deep as ****, i mean the deepest pot hole i have ever seen, and the car died out, we had then figured out that the ignighter went out after sitten in the parking lot after an hour or so...but we also took apart the dizzy and found that the ignighter was loose anyways and only had one screw holding it in place, and that one was also not tight at all... we figured that the hole had enough bang to jar the ignighter and short it out...

as far as the temp going up thats wierd... unless your loosing water/oil then it shouldnt go up at all... and you said your not soo... maybe the exhaust being broke off where it is made the engine compartment hot for a min...

let us kno if you get it fixed... im wondering about the problem now... good luck...

bump bump bump.... SOMEONE HELP THIS GUY OUT....

thank you. someone told me that it might be the main relay...

i just got the car on the road last mnday, and i cant believe that im already having issues with it.

i do know that the car was always slow to start. i changed the battery on monday (when i got it on the road) and the battery was still slow to start. im thinking the reason why it wont start wo0uld be the starter... but the temp problem is a major issue for me. i have to see whats going on with it!!!

thanks for the idea... i will check it when i have free time this week. it is freezing and it makes you not wanna do anything!

So the car still doesn't start right? Does it crank at all? Crank slowly? Accessories/lights turn on?

To be basic and upfront it needs 4 things to start......spark, fuel, compression, and correct timing.

We need way more details.

the cooling fan shouldn't come on unless the engine is hot... check the coolant temp sensor?

If the car won't crank, how do you know there's no spark?

your coolant temp sensor is bypass so thats why your fans turns on without the car hot but that has nothing to do with ignition if your starter wont crank the motor and the starters fine try taking a 19 to your crank pully and turning it over... what im about to say mayb upsetting.... coolants all thier/motor overheated/good starter and batt/but the motor still wont turn over.... this can only mean one thing your motor is blown threw a rod and locked up the crank... this is the only conclusion i can make im hoping that its something else thoe... is the ground on your tranny good???

te car was perfectly running though... i shut the car off and then tried to start it about 3 minutes after... i highly doubt that the motor threw a rod... but hey... anythings possible!
