Default major overheating problem!!!

ok, i have a 88 integra RS and for some reason the coolant is SHOOTING out of the bottom of the cap from the reservoir tank. this doesnt happen at idle but only when i rev up the engine or am driving. i have tightened it completly and when i get home i open my hood to find that the whole cap and tube shot off. right now its on a little loose just so it wont shoot off again. what do u guys think this could be?

possibly rad cap not holding any pressure so as the coolant expands when it gets hot it just dumps into the overflow tank. just a guess.

Is it possible to install a thermostat backwards?
(I don't know)

Is your car stock?
Kit Car just did a whole article on how timing/lean conditions contribute to overheating.

My 86 developed overheating problems too. Never spewed coolant from the overflow tank though.
