Default maintenance required

so a couple days ago i started my car and my maintenance required light came on my dash. I asked my brother who knows a thing or two about honda's said not to worry since my CEL wasn't lit he said it was a dealership thing and doesn't matter if my car was running fine.
SO is he right and how do i get it to stop.

Also if anyone knows how to get the ABS light off to that would be helpful

For a quick fix, reach under your steering wheel under the dash, directly left of your cd player assuming your car is a 94-01 there will be a button underneath. Turn your key forward and hold the button. The maintenance light should turn off.

I would recommend having the ABS checked out before just pulling the bulb for it. Doesn't that sound a bit unsafe?
