LSD
Ive done plenty of research and now I would like to hear people that are actually running them. Im torn between the OBX and the Quiafe unit for my LS. Im about to boost and going to get one....i would like to hear pluses and minuses for both from owners not people like me that have only done research. Thanks.
my friend had an obx and it was good for a while (about a year) but after he really started to beat it at the track it only held up about a month. this was in a civic hatch w/ ls/vtec turbo making about 420-430 to the wheels 20-22psi
I suggest that you read Quaife's warranty carefully. They do not disclose a torque bias ratio, therefore there is no quantitative way to gauge the condition of their unit other than broken or not broken.
Read my exchange with Quaife. The performance of their ATB differential cannot be quantified. Even the stock ITR LSD (also an ATB) has a performance check procedure.

We used the quaife with good results, It seems a little more tighter then the stock itr. But both will do the job. Cost is a major factor thou. But I speakering from street performance, local track. not scca

I agree that they work, but without a torque bias ratio or operation check procedure, the lifetime warranty is meaningless unless the differential catastrophically fails.

those diffs take some major abuse on the track (drag)...... abuse OEM ITR LSD's fail at shattering tranny cases.

Taking abuse and functioning as a LSD are seperate issues. If your WHP isn't excessive, then the OEM ITR LSD is the better choice for LSD functionality. If I am drag racing a car with high WHP, I'd use a clutch pack LSD anyway since they provide better traction.

im looking for around 300-350 hp at the wheel...im not certain, but I think the ITR LSD wont hold up to that. I drive the car HARD weather it be on the track or street...at least if I know I have the power lol. Im just talking about hitting gears occasionally....not redlining and powershifting every gear. I drive the car...not baby it
I know a guy w/a b16 in his CRX, who Auto_x's. He doesnt have a LSD, but his auto crossing buddies swear by.. OBX belive it or not. I was suprised from all the crap you read on god ole H-T abotu them.. He was suprised too but had decided to get one because his buddies havnt had any problems out of theres. He hasnt yet, but is planning on it. He has a very sweet Rex BTW
Take that for what it's worth, I plan on going w/a Stock ITR LSD: If it's good enough for the Type-R, then it's good enough for my GSR

Probably not from what I have read. The ITR unit is fine with high HP until wheel hop onsets.
I just wish Quaife would simply provide the torque bias ratio for the differential.

Im also getting mixed reviews on the OBX unit....it seems the older units from last year were having fitment issues. The new ones dont seem to have that problem, but are breaking more often. Any one have the same issues on the new units?
