lsd ????
I was looking through some past threads trying to find out some info on a good LSD for a good price. The only one that interested me was the obx unit, it sell for a good price and it has a life time warranty. the only problem is my friends car is an integra gsr, one of the posts said if you change the ring gear to a civic si ring gear the si unit will work.

okay, to help this man out, here we go:
yes, the Civic SiR (for clarity, we'll call it SiR=B16A) has the same final drive as the GS-R.
no, the ring gears aren't the same. get one of each and try to put one on a B16 diff, then try the other. one will fit, the other won't.
now, first off, the GS-R unit from OBX is out, so you'd just get that one. second, yes you'd have to change the ring gear over to the SiR one. third, an OEM Type-R diff won't fit because you'd still have to change the ring gear. there, no more guessing.

ctr lsd's breaking at 180hp? hah. Look at the people with built ctr motors using stock trannys.

ctr tranny same 1-3 gears as JDM '98+ ITR, and shorter 4th and 5th gears. on the down side, like the ITR tranny, 4.785 final drive isn't standard. but if you get the 4.785 FD in a CTR tranny, congrats, you have the shortest gears possible, and a top speed of 137mph at 8500rpm in 5th gear. which also means you'll be doing 4656rpm cruising just at 75mph on the highway in 5th gear. not for daily driver, huh? race car stuff.
ebay, baby. or just swap final drive to GS-R one. that's what i'm shooting for in my LS. slightly higher final drive won't hurt cruising volume too much or fuel economy (if i can stay off the right pedal).
