Get the GSR head and build it. No point in getting the type R head, if you plan to go boost, compression is a little high for that.

haha what? the head has too high compression? because actually by using a GSR head you will raise the compression more than with a type r head because of the size of the combustion chamber

and FYI there are advantages to a type r head other than the name

b16 head and type r head are the same other then the type r has a port polish, valve job and better cams. b16 head is better then gsr head.

b16, especially if you plan on changing the internals of the head anyways.

And I am sure you have some good solid information to back up this "opinion"?

I would say in stock form the the B16 head is better than the GSR head, but if you get head work done, then either one would be good. Just my opinion and if I remember right, the B16 is almost like the ITR with out the factory port and polish...

ok ill provide some info on this. in a sense, one of the heads is not better than the other. but, what i can tell u is a reputable head porter (i wanna say rlz) put a stock b16 head and a stock gsr head on a flowbench and the b16 flowed roughly 5 more cfm. not much of a difference but it does flow a tiny bit better. in my own opinion, i think both heads are about equal cause the majority of us that build motors dont keep our motors stock and end up putting in cams, port/polish, etc.

also, b16 and itr are not the same head. they are made from the same casting but the itr has different valvetrain, different cams, a better im, bigger tb, and a factory port job
