Default ls/vtec problems

Iv got a b16a2 head on 93 ls block. i put new rings, bearings, seals, and b16 oil pump in it. im running a p28 ecu thats currently still chipped for a straight up b16. Ls/vtec kit is from epic tunning and i know plenty of great powerplants using it.

Problem is it worked fine for about 500 miles, now it goes through like a quart of oil every 100 miles and coolant is disappearing. There is no oil in the coolant or vice versa. I compression checked it reads 200 across. i checked cam timing and ignition timing, all good.

It has no power what so ever, and more recently i cant get it past 5k rpms if i even try to get on it.

Any ideas, this is embarassing, NA sohc pull on me right now

I was under the impression that for anyone going with lsvtec should always use the gsr oil pump w/ timing belt along with the gsr water pump? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I was told i could use a b16 oil pump and that would be fine, i used a gsr belt. The water pump though i heard so many issues of people cavitating i just kept the stock water pump

I always thought you couldn't use the gsr belt with the b16 pump.

From my experience you should always use a gsr water pump and gsr oil pump because they have to match together and since you kept the same stock one that is your problem. The water pump is really important because it circulates the water and if you use a stock old one from a b16 water pump. Upgrade your water pump to gsr along with your oil pump as well. REMEMBER water pump and oil pump must be the same make GSR. Its all the same but use the same type. You will see and the problem with the oil should go away. Go gsr because u got the gsr belt already might as well. Its only 50 bucks a piece so u spend 100 bucks plus installation and ur car should be running like a champ.
