i am converting my ls to vtec. i have a type r top end and want to know if the pistons NEED to be replaced with type r. Also if the cam gears will transfer from ls to type r.

its called a head not a top end. no u dont need to do anything with pistons. not sure on the gears they should though and next time do a search. i guaranty like 30 people have asked the same question on here in the past few months
