i own a 96ls and im thinking about making it an lsvtec. does it actually create a significant amount of power and how hard is it to do?

You need to look at the FAQ's there's ton's of LS-VTEC info. Along with a couple threads on "How-to build a reliable LS-VTEC"

Yes, it's more powerful than your non vtec LS motor.

Search it up. There are TONS of threads on this kind of build.

I'm aware that it's going to take a decent amount of money and work. im just doing my research to see if building an lsvtech is really worth it rather than just swapping the motor

ls/vtech isnt for n00b's so you would probably be better off swapping the motor, its alot easier and there is alot less for stupid people to mess up.
