i'll answer for him..At the very least you need a vtec cylinder head,ECU,golden eagle oil line kit and vtec pistons for your block, such as PR3,P30 or whatever you can find..!!good luck...!!

read these two threads: All the info you need about LS-VTEC, along with more reading and research that you must do on your own.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1676914

In my honest opinion, ls-vtec will never run like a stock vtec motor since it was never factory built or mass produced. It's all hand built, assembled, and engineered by an experienced/professional engine builder. I give lots of respect to ls-vtec cause I've had two of them, but will never have one again, nothing compares to a factory built vtec motor.

he call Lscivic1999 a retard, which was very nice lol. and you dont even need the golden eagle kit, it just makes it easier. If you have to ask what you need for the ls vtec then i dont think you have enought expericene working on hondas, if you do to a ls vtec have someone help you that knows more about it. and take alot of pics becuase if you have problems its easyer to show us what you f'ed up then tell us.

x2, the op should research before purchasing parts, its time consuming, cost $$ and takes some trial and error to get Ls-vtec to run pristine.

I am sick of them too. RTFF.

Read The ******* FAQ's. Most everything a noob could ask is there. If not, search. Then, prior to posting, ask yourself "Self, am I a dumbass?" If not, feel free to post your question which has never been addressed in the millions of posts on Honda-Tech.

Im not backing up from what i said, but i'll make my case now.. why add a vtec head just to rev it up 7000 and your vtec kicks in at 5700 so you are gonna make 1300 RPM of vtec power..rather keep it non-vtec...and if you rev it past that 7000 all you doing is speeding up the process of blowing up your motor....

If the b18 non-vtec block is assembled and/or built correctly, reving past 7k will not blow the block. Its understandable that the head of either b16, c1, c or c5 can rev past 8k w/o a problem, that is why the block is reinforced to handle those rpm ranges. Many ls-vtec owners rev their motors up to 9k w/o problems, becuase they have the necessary engine parts for the motor to perform at that level. Which every ls-vtec owners should know, is to have the right mods to make it reliable. Ls-vtec wasn't made to enjoy vtec only, if you wanted power from vtec then you stick with any vtec motor. ls-vtec is to enjoy the low end power plus the highend power from vtec. Vtec doesn't even kick in at 5700 with ls-vtec, it all depends on the ecu being used, plus a stock ecu will run like crap, its best to have a chipped ecu or a standalone system to tune the ecu being used with the ls-vtec for optimum performance. The ls-vtec is an ingenious setup, its sucks that it can't be bar'd legal or else all my civic's would have built ls-v's

You are talking about fully builts cars now...i rev my ls vtec to almost 9k..but my points is do you know anyone that has stock LS bottom end , pistons and rods that rev up 9k..plus what we were talking about was at least vtec pistons in the ls block so at least he can make enough compression so he can make some top end power now your coming out with another different story....I NEVER SAID THAT LS -VTEC CANT REV HIGHER THAN 7k, WHAT I MEANT WAS THAT IF YOU REV A LS BLOCK WITH LS PISTONS PAST 7k it wont make no power after that they dont make enough compression ....read before you type....plus an ls vtec need at least vtec pistons to be reliable and maybe some adjustable cam gears depends your situation most of the time they run a lil bit off time....

Where along those lines of your statement do you indicate a stock bottom LS? and Built cars? the topic is ls-vtec didnt say anything about builts cars or motors that are not ls-vtec. Plus who puts a completely stock vtec head onto a completely stock ls bottom? Anyone who builds an ls-vtec uses aftermarket and oem parts, built or not, it still requires assembling with the use of new oem or aftermarket parts to insure that the ls-vtec operates the way it should. Vtec pistons? you can use any piston from low to high cr pistons vtec or non-vtec if you want a higher cr then you get oem pistons from any vtec motor (i.e. jdm itr, jdm ctr, etc) or forged pistons or high cr pistons, if you want low cr for boost application, then you can stick to the stock ls pistons or you get low cr pistons. No where in the rule of thumb for building ls-vtec says you must use vtec pistons, never heard that before.
