ls vtec
i'm sittin here bored in computer class and was wondering how much it would cost to make the ls vtec without installation, ruffly what would the hp of it, and would you have run 91 octane in it
thats kinda vague, but assuming ur b18 block is stock probably around 1200-1500. thats just if you want ls/vtec to just work as in going all stock internals. it also depends on what u want to achieve- boost, allmotor, daily driver, etc. and to make your stock ls vtec will give you about 25hp. yes you would have to run higher octane because of the vtec..i think

but the one that the threadstarter is talking about wouldnt own a gsr, at best it would be a close race going to the better driver... the motor that owns itr's all day long is built and is a far cry from 1200 bucks to build.

trew considering i spent a **** load of money on my motor.... a ton more than 1200 boners.... but yes ls/vtec kicks a gsr in the face.... it pWns j00

Well let me just say this, I had the oppertunity to race a 91da with an ls/vtec setup, he was running basicly a stock ls block (stock internals) and a gsr head, and i/h/e, and he also had a gsr tranny, and according to the driver, his 5th gear was
, (its not like your gonna need your 5th gear in a 1/4mile
), and me I have a bone stock 97gsr, with the execption of i/h/e, and it was a pretty damn close race, I ran a 15.3 and he ran a 15.5.
a stock ls/vtec, (stock meaning stock internals), vs a stock gsr, the gsr will come out on top, assuming you both have the same tranny(gsr trany in this case), if the ls/vtec has a b16 tranny then the advantage will go to the ls/vtec.

when people talk baout a fully built whatever or a turbo whatever agaisnt anything stock its just ******* SSTUPID. lets see a built single cam or built ls against a stock ls vtec or gsr, its gonna eat them for breakfast.. its like comparing apples and calculators
