LS Power
I have an LS Integra 4-dr 5-sp with bolt on mods. Lots of mods; I/H/C/E, ACT Clutch, Lightweight Flywheel, 15" OEM LS Mesh Wheels and Tires, yada yada yada...
Anyway, I was racing a 1991 BMW 325i last night, and I noticed something about my Integra. Something called power.
Basically... is it usual for LS Tegs to be able to break the wheels loose in 1st gear at WOT even after they have already hooked up? If I launch, and get grip, and THEN floor it, the wheels will break loose again and I'll spin to redline.

Sounds like crappy tires and/or slick conditions.
BTW, check out the sig I use on some other forums:
(ok, so the pictures without the story implies that I'm a little faster than I really am, but he wasn't lapping me either.)

YEah could be tires or slick conditions - I was breaking my tires loose in 2nd all the way through 4th today but the fact it sooo damn cold and Im using winter tires was the case.

I have to admit as an alignment tech dealing with ALLOT of tires from every manufacturer, I had 10x more respect for Michelin as a tire company before I bought my first teg. Those are without a doubt the 1st or 2nd WORST tires I have ever had the displeasure of tolerating. The Good Year Invicta is it's only close competition for the title IMO if you're curious. I wonder how many otherwise happy Acura buyers have DIED because of those pathetic tires, which hydroplane if there's a light mist on the road. Both Michelin AND Acura should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.
Had mine for 2 years too. Wasted space in the garage, just in case of an emergency I thought, till one day I had them chopped up. I just can't imagine an emergency dire enough to make me want to put that garbage back on my car.
On dry pavement they screeched, howled, and broke loose. Now that's in a straight line take off, when my car was totally stock. Around corners they shrieked and skidded. I hope Honda saved allot of money by using such an awful tire, it certainly cost them some sales.

So you have stock tires...stock suspension too?
When spring comes so will the Falken Azenis. Or maybe Bridgestone Potenza S-O3 Pole Position if they are still on sale at TireRack. Only problem is, I don't want to buy good tires for stock rims if I'm gonna upgrade, which I want to do, but don't have $.

saved cost? Them shitz ain;t cheap either................... lol
Well I certainly hope Honda didn't pay anywhere near what Michelin would've all but stolen from an uninformed tire shopper for those fine fine rubbers. I picture Honda asking Michelin for the cheapest tire they can possibly design & produce. Voila! But, I don't know how the tire was actually hatched. Obviously the big shots at Honda knew the tires were garbage...politics MUST come in here somewhere. Or is it economics?
I wonder how the teg ever got good reviews in magazines and such with it's stock tires. feels like driving a snow sled in the wet and not great in the dry either.
Oddly enough, the new Si has really bad tires as well - SCC suggested that changing them out might work wonders on the handling.
I dont know why you guys bad mouth the stock tires too much. My GSR is still on the stock michilens, i think they are pretty good. Of course they are not the best you can get but hey if you cant control the power of your car on a rainy day, thats your problem. Dont just floor it from a dead stop on a wet day.
Hmm... maybe Honda had to meet a price point, and their logic is... spend more money on great tires on every Integra but only be able to put a crappy rear suspension on the car, or save lots of money on crappy tires on every Integra and be able to put better parts throughout the car. Tires you can easily upgrade, integral components you cannot.

If they spent $100 more on tires and added that $100 to the sticker, who would have cared? If I was Honda/Acura I would've wanted the car to stick well since it's supposed to be a sporty car. It makes them look bad when the average magazine reader looks side by side at vehicles in the same class and sees that one has crappier handling characteristics. They figure the car is crappier, not the tires. I wouldn't want to have to put NEW tires on a brand new car, that's stupid.
