LS to GSR Conversion
I've got a 95 LS automatic that has a blown engine. I was thinking of doing a GSR/manual conversion. Around how much would this cost me? I'd like to get a motor and tranny with low mileage. What other parts do I need to factor in to my cost in doing a conversion like this? Any recommendations for shops in the bay area or better yet any reputable member here in the bay area that is selling and can install it for me if I choose to do it? Thanks in advance.
I'll sell you everything necessary to convert your car from auto to manual except for the actual drivetrain parts and the shifter/linkage for $250. All you would need to do is get a complete swap from someone like http://www.hmotorsonline.com or http://www.passwordjdm.com and then install it.
damn 300 to swap a motor damn thats cheap but for a FULL motor swap meaning everything you need to get it complete and running with low miles can range from 3,500 to 5,000 the sites Kendall posted have good motors from wat i hear
depends, are you getting it dun at a shop? cuz switching the tranny is just flat out annoying. the motor will prolly be a good 3 g's maybe? and then all the parts for the tranny. could be up to about a good 4 g's.

250-300 sounds like a good price for a tranny. But there's no way you'll find a swap for that price. You'll be looking at a total over $3000 for sure when it's all said and done...probably over $4000.

Yeah, there's a lot of work involved. As NYC said...it'd be easier if you just sold your teg and bought a gsr.

ahh yes, that is true. Hmmm...then in that case...spend the $4000 and do the gsr swap.

yep, but if he does the swap incorrectly, he could end up paying more than just $4k.
Ive seen to many jiggas getting their swaps to work and run FAST...
Reliablility was never part of their Vocab... and too many times, ive seen people sell their so called "experiments" to unknowing folks. It may be worthwhile for someone who's a greasemonkey and handy but if this guys asking "should i or shouldn't I and how much?" questions, i'd say hell no.
