The LS motor (B18B) is a DOHC (double overhead cam) and is a 1.8 litre

why do people question the LS?? i mean really.. its an integra, the only difference is vtec, leather seats, 30hp and wing. Our cars are not like civics like a dohc civic si or a sohc civic ex.. sorry i just tired of people asking that.pop a hood and look for a change, pick up a performance book.

AMEN. Why do we get this question all the time. "oh man, i though that had the civic motor...or really, i thought it was a single cam motor."

oh well what can ya do? we are the ones that "couldn't afford the real integra". If i hear that again someones gettin a smack.

sorry, venting. all done now.

Gs has everything a gs-r does except the xtra 30 hp. not sure about the tq levels.
oh yeah the gs-r also cost more and more on nsurace for a measly 30 hp, that a turbo can take care of real easily.
bottom line theres nothing wrong with a ls. vtec is overrated.

wow the i love my LS thread.....or rather the my LS isent so bad thread

LS will beat just about any other honds out there, when u are talking about stock hondas, all civic's (including SI if the guy can drive) and can stay with a gs-r or even a lude if drive n right

so like all cars the deficit can be made up by driver and mods....like we all know the LS is better for somethings than other engines

Yeah, there's definately a lot of people who don't understand Integras. The vast majority of them have no clue that it's not intended to be a dragster, or that there's other kinds of racing than drag. For a Teg, my handling isn't great (P195/60R14 tires, stock springs/shocks/swaybars), but there has only been one car that was able to keep up with me around a curve... that was a Cavalier Z24, and it had very fat 18 inch wheels (like 235's), sway bar upgrades, springs, shocks, and braces. He had the optimal lane and he still wasn't able to go much faster than I was. I've seen other cars loose control trying to keep up with me around a curve, but most people have enough sense not to even try. That's what makes a Teg great, and VTEC doesn't do that.

VTEC isn't the magical thing all the riceboys think it is anyways. I'm constantly having people ask me if mine's a GS-R or "a VTEC", I say no and they get all disappointed and think I'm slow. Then I take down some car that'd give a GS-R a hard time and everyone's all surprised, and the other driver makes all kinds of BS excuses. Apparently there's no way I could have beat him, because I'm "not a VTEC". Most people have no clue what VTEC actually does. Sure, some know that it gives you two cam profiles, but they don't understand why it makes the car faster. They also have no clue how horsepower is calculated and what it means.

Yeah, a GS-R is a higher performance model, but it really doesn't have that much over a LS. As for the sunroof thing, LS'es also have them. My LS also has the 6 speaker AM/FM/CD setup that some people think only GS-R's have. And I don't think all GS-R's have leather. With the exception of the Type-R, the Teg models are all pretty close to each other. It's a great car, no matter what level it is.

Yeah, a stock 5 speed LS can take down most of the cars on the road in a drag race, and even more when movement of the steering wheel is required. The driver does make a difference, but there is a limit to what the car can do. It's not hard to make a LS perform better though. With a few mods, I got mine to be approximately as fast as a stock GS-R. It was much cheaper to get those mods than to trade my LS for a GS-R and pay the higher insurance too. Obviously, VTEC gives the GS-R engine a lot of potential, but the LS engine still has quite a bit of potential itself. But there's a lot more to a Teg than it's engine.

My LS has never let me down...I'm always giving her grief thinking she's slow, but whenever I needed her, she's always performed to what I've expected

So we can't scream 8000 as easily, but there are other ways, even in the all motor world.

not sure about the tq levels.
I have done some of my own dyno comparisions, and the LS has more HP & TQ through the powerband up until 6,000rpm (where the ls hp dips down, and the gsr keeps creating hp..roughly 30 more).

This is no doubt because of the higher displacement, and lower rod/ratio. Which ends up with strong low end torque at the sacrifice of revability.

Let's go race. I don't need VTEC, I got torque.

30 hp is nothing......considering i could get a b16 head and put it on my block and have more than your gs-r

i have nothing against gs-r owners only that one gs-r owner
