Default Lowering

I was wondering what the difference is between regular springs and coilovers. Which would be better for my 98 Integra? Also, would i need new shocks or struts when i lower it? Any helpful info would be great!

whoo you are really new aint you...well first off it might have been better to search. depending on the ride height you want = springs or coilovers you buy. coilovers are adjustable, springs are not. new shocks is a must with aftermarket springs

if u want coilovers dont buy the cheap stuff, they break. even expensive ones bang around a little bit n make noise. lowering springs are nicer but u wont get as low as u probly want. and if your oem shocks are still good u can use em. no matter what id recommend a camber kit though, it'll save u a lot of cash. id go with springs.

if you plan on lowering it much, struts and a camber kit are almost necessary. As for coilovers vs. springs i would go with springs. You can get springs that drop your car pretty low, maybe not as much as coilovers but you must remember the lower you go the worse it is on your car. Springs also ride much better, dont rattle around and dont break like coilovers can.

Better overall as in what? You should narrow it down to just springs or just coilovers first.

real coilovers if you want the best thing...since they are stiffer than springs
for example with 240sx, most coilovers have a 8/6 kg rating, while the stiffest spring RSR has a 3kg rating, somethingl ike that not really sure on the rsr #.

But if you just drive on the street springs are fine

you can buy springs, shocks, and a threaded sleave, wich is like a broken up coilover in a lot of peaces, but coilovers are used to corner weight a car not just lower, i'd go with koni yellow/eabiach springs, you can go like 2'' maybe more and its better on your car.

I say get Tein Basic Coilovers, they don't have adjustable dampening (gas pressure in shock) but they are about the same $ as good shocks and springs and most of us know tein makes quality

Coilovers are adjustable, springs aren't. Get coilovers.

do it right and get yourself a good full coilover system. might i add that you should get some adjustable shocks also. are you dropping you car for perfomance or looks. when you drop your car you compress the srping more. you can balance out the spring rate with adjustable shocks to how u like em. more so if you wanna drop just to drop, you won't be bottoming out all the time.

Yes, that should be fine. I have the Skunk2's with Koni reds, so the those with some illuminas or agx's should be even better.
