Default Let's Talk SECURITY

Hey guys,

The goal is obviously: I don't want to get my car stolen or broken into. I was thinking about getting THE CLUB, but I don't think that will be enough.

What are some precautions I can take? What are my options when it comes to protecting my GSR????

whatever you do, the club isnt the answer...

get a kill switch for your fuel, and an alarm.

I got all that and more but i do also have the club. i know some will say its not the protection you need but like i said i have kill switch, internal pain siren, back up battery and extra siren, door, hood, trunk pins plus i have the club. i think sometimes the club would help when they peek into your window

you know there's a security forum right?

but to answer your question: full coverage.

yep, that's the true and only answer. if someone wants it, they'll take it. you can do whatever you want to the car to slow the thief down, but if they really want it, they'll take it.

club it, autolock it, get an alarm, install a kill switch, do whatever you want. after a while, you'll realize that full coverage is the only true answer. sucks, doesn't it?

very very true i agree.. but u can lower down the risk of it from getting stolen, to be safe park ur car inside ur garage overnight specially if u live in suburb area, 2nd on my own advise dont leave ur car anywhere out of your vision like mall, park, movie theatre, restaurant, etc....

but to reduce the risk u can get a gud alarm, kill switch, club, some pedal lock, and a 9mm. or a baseball bat or maybe a pitbull inside ur car..

would not get a fuel cut of switch because if you hit it when driving your fucked ... i would get a starter kill switch.... flip it on when you want to start the car then flip it back

The Club
The AutoLock
An alarm
Fuel kill / starter kill
A quick release steering wheel
A GPS tracking system

those are just some I'd recommend. The more layers, the better. As everyone says, if they want it that bad, they'll take it. There's not much that can be done for those tow truck thieves.

Who the hell would put their fuel kill switch out in the open so that you "can accidentally hit it while driving"?

The idea behind kill switches is that they are supposed to be hidden.

I didn't even see that one....

I wouldn't consider myself being fucked if I flipped mine when driving. It's not like when it's off the car will come to a screaching halt right there on the Interstate. It simply starves the fuel system of gas which just makes your engine turn over with out fireing up

Thx guys, I didn't realize there was a security forum. I'm still new here.

-sphinxica

PS. Some of the recommendations made, what is the approximate cost of these additions to the car? I need most bang for $$$$ (ie. killlswitch, alarm (which is good?), etc)

You know, not like you can just flip the switch and restart the car or anything... excuse the sarcasm... If your dumb enough to put the switch somewhere that it can accidently be triggered, you probably do have problems.

Do not listen to these guys.....no one security item is enough; you always have to layer security...but the CLUB DOES WORK !!! I still have my baby today, because the thief that tried to steal my gs-r had to spend a few extra seconds trying to get through the club, and someone saw him in those extra few seconds !! I repeat, If I DIDNT HAVE A CLUB, I WOULDNT HAVE A CAR RIGHT NOW !

The club does work, as part fo a more comprehensive, layered security system for your car.

For some more ideas, check this out....fre stuff that you can do to make your car more secure...

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1084970

Also....if you have an alram, d not the brain under the steering wheel, cause thats where a thief will expect it to be. Also, For extra protection, get a plate welded in front of the hood lever so none can manually open your hood.
Lastly, get a back up battery for your alarm, and a paging system...best of luck !!!

I wouldn't say the Club doesn't work - it may not be all that effective, but at least it's visible protection. A casual thief may at least see the thing on your car and decide to move on to another vehicle without one.

club doesn't seem to work against theives anymore, you're best bet would just be a good alarm system, with a few fuel pump kill switches, removable steering wheel, and a good insurance company with full coverage.

want to know what is not good about these threads. Is your starting a topic where everyone shares how-to's, and different things they have done to keep their car safe from thieves.

who knows....thieves could be watching these sort of topics to stay on top of their crime....

exactly, there's a bunch of theives here on ht, even though we're putting up how-to's and stuff to keep our cars safe, it's still a better bet than just sticking with a basic alarm system. Just be creative and come up with your own security system.
