Default Integrated Control Unit problem/question

My 94 GSR sedan has a malfunctioning ICU that makes my brake light stay on all the time which is turn makes the ABS control unit throw an ABS light. My questions are since I need another one, 1)does it matter whether I get it from a LS or does it have to be a GSR? 2)does it matter whether it is from a 2 door or does it need to be from a 4 door? 3)would I need to get it by OBD(my car being OBD-1) or would I need to get it by 94-97 or 98+(my car being 94) or does that factor matter? I'm sure not too many people probably know about this but if someone does and can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

interesting...didn't know dc's had ICU's...are you sure it's not something else?

ICU's typically go on DA's...they will cause the rear defroster, door chimes, intermittent wipers to fault out....but has nothing to do with the brake lights

i think your issue is something else, but if you insist on the ICU, i would stay obd1 (94-95 only) as 96 went obd2.....not to say it won't work but you're better off (IF dc's do have an ICU).....3dr/4dr vtec/non'vtec won't matter

again, i would be surprised if you did have an ICU....on the second gen's it's mount behind the fuse box inside the car, kind of a pain to get to

94-01 Integras also have the Integrated Control Units, attached behind the interior fuse box.

In my personal experience, I've encountered this problem twice already; one with my old DA and again with my 95 GSR sedan. They both showed the same symptoms; non-working rear defrost, door chimes, and intermittent wipers, as well as strange problems with JDM sidemarkers on both cars (sidemarker will stay on and not blink when it's supposed to even though its wired to the normal blinker). I think I've read somewhere that it can mess with the ABS system, though I'm not too sure what it does.

From what I remember, you'll have to get one that is from a 94-97 since the fuse box is different between 94-97 and 98+. I think it doesn't matter whether it comes from a coupe or sedan, though I got lucky because I got mine out of a 94-97 sedan and it worked fine.

Thanks guys I guess I'll just look for any 94-97 one.

Yea my rear defroster doesn't work either. Like superchi though, on my old EF hatch the ICU was going bad too and little sidemarker/corner bulbs were out of whack of how they were supposed to blink with the turn signal(even though the turn signals worked fine). I know it's the ICU becuase I've tested every other component in the brake indicator light system and all the wiring except the ICU(being that it can't really be directly tested) and have found it to be the ICU. It messes with the ABS because if the ABS control unit see's the brake indicator light on for more than 30 secs while driving it throws the ABS light with the corresponding code(which I've also checked and know that's what the light is being thrown for).
