Integra reliability?
Hi, I'm in the market to buy a 94+ Integra, and was wondering are they pretty reliable cars? I have a 00 civic and it's great, never anything wrong with it...yet. When buying a used teg, what kind of milage would be considered IFFY on the reliability side? I know Hondas last a long time but I don't know the normal life of an older GSR Integra.

Well I bought my 94 GS-R in June 2001 w/ 88K miles. Now it has 138K miles.
It has never been to a mechanic at all since I bought it. I have not had to repair ANYTHING whatsoever. I just do regular maintenance and stuff and it still runs like a top, taken to redline almost every day.
And it can still get 34-36 mpg (350-380 miles/tank).

I have a 97 GSR
53000 miles
$0 in repairs
only performed maintenance as needed
the other day I saw a civic ex with 250000 miles and ran as good as new
I never had to question the reliability of a Honda.

oh for your info: you might want to look for a 95 since its the better one out of all the years. Of course i wouldnt turn down a good deal for a newer one either.
and yes they are very reliable cars

i think he is referring to the fact that 94-95 tegs are OBDI as opposed to OBDII.
as far as reliability... well i have a 94 LS w/ 124k and i have performed regular maintenance on it, and the only things that broke down on it were from regular wear n tear that eventually would need to be replaced on all cars... like my starter, & radiator. Nothing of my motor has ever "broken down" or what not. Only thing is that with an older car you will probably be finding that you may need to replace some of those items that i mentioned.
When buying any car tho... you want to find out what maintenance was done on it and when.

extremely reliable.. a 94 Integra with 100k plus miles if properly maintained will last for years to come.. my 94 Integra has 100k plus miles and still running strong..I slap a 100 miles a week going from school and home on the weekends.. has been through this for the past 8 years and still going strong..
let's put it this way.. my feet have never touched the ground of the california freeway/highway system.... and uhh what's AAA?..

Hehe I was pretty sure Integras were reliable cars. I don't doubt Honda's quality. I was just wondring how they hold up in the 100k+ miles. If I do come across one that's in good shape I"ll jump on it. Thanks everyone

Well consider this...my near-stock teg has 150,000 on it, and at the Philadelphia races, there isn't one other 2000+ stock teg that can even keep up with me. basically, if you concern is reliablity, dont even look at any other car. Teg all the way man
94gsr with 121k miles.
Only thing I replace that "BROKE" was the starter: $87.
*suspect I might need a new 02 sensor but not sure*
Everything else is just standard maintenace, like oil change, tune-ups & brakes.
How long a car last depends on how well it's been maintain and how it's been driven. I will never buy a fixed up car or from somone that "looks" like he would abused the car.

hondas have been rated the number one most reliable vehicles out there, so the only way you'll get something more reliable than a teg is a teg with fewer miles. i normally wouldn't give a second thought to a car with more than 100K unless all maintenance and upkeep was documented.
I have a 92 integra with 148k and she runs as strong as ever, only thing ever gon out was a CV joint (ehh what are ya gonna do, the car is pretty low
) and the brake master cylinder $80.
