AEM CAI is great, may want to wait for the V2 many people doubt it works but i read in a few magizines that it produces a few more hp say 3-4 over the original CAI.

i have learned tha AEM is just a name, and paying $200 for a pipe and filter is a joke, i understand they did the research on intakes and they are c.a.r.b leagal, but AEmMuses metal pipes, doesnt mater on color, they get so dam hot that is basically cancell's the cold air.
buy a no name cai, make sure it has a resusable filter, you could get a iceman, the tube is plastic=cooler air. or get a powder coated one.

people go crazy over AEM it seems. When it comes to cold air intake...brand isnt really a big deal. Custom can be just as good if not better.

Yes, AEM is very popular. another 2 common good ones i know of are Injen and Iceman. I personally have an Iceman on my 98 GSR. i like it a lot because the plastic stays cooler than metal, it has the tapered design, already 2 piece for easy short ram conversion and they are also CARB legal like AEM.

EDIT: oh yea, forgot about Comptech Icebox, duh

what would be the best in my situation where I live in an area where the roads are munted and have pot holes everywhere and the possibility of hydrolocking high, an comptech ice box?

OT: I know that black absorbs heat, but what color makes the heat cool faster?

If you're worried about hydrolocking, the Comptech Icebox would be your best bet or an AEM Bypass but I believe there's a losss in power with the bypass installed.

Also, its not the color of the intake that should be of concern, it should be the material and if it's powder-coated or not.

My Icebox only heats up a little bit if I sit in traffic with the engine on, otherwise it's cool to the touch.

Yes --- If there is a concern for hydrolocking the Comptech would be your best bet - that or a short ram...

to avoid hydrolocking i would recommend short ram, i still heard of people hydrolocking even with the icebox, and yea in my opinion getting an AEM with the bypass defeats the purpose
