Default Insurance question for age 25, Thks!

I'm going to be 25 in May, my agent (Farmers) told me today that my insurance won't go down even though i'm 25 (which suppose to drop near half) because my GSR is a sport car which they rarely cover ...... ANy people in here age 25 have your rate cut from Farmers? Any other good choices for insurance? How about American Express??? Also, i mean in full coverage. Thks!!

Mine didn't go down either. I ended up changing insurance companies.

I can't confirm Farmers is a quality Ins. Co. but if your rates won't go down once you turn 25, I'd shop around for another Ins. Co. I use Nationwide and once I turned 25, My rates dropped dramatically. Of course I was under my parents policy so that may or may not make a difference if you are covered under your parents, then change over to your own. Perhaps it has something to do with what type of policy you have chosen. Maybe you have a mark or two on your driving record and that incident is much to close to your 25th b-day therefore your rate will not reduce. I suppose I could come up with a number of possibilities but the only way you will know for sure is if you ask why your rates won't drop.

When I turned 21 (still had my old car) my rates took a nosedive, dropped by over 1/3 from $150 to under $100/mo (parents' policy). Now that I own my own car and have my own policy I'm still only paying about $135/mo. I expect it will take a large drop when I turn 25, especially since my whole family is with Allstate and have been for some time now.

Dude,
I have to deal with Farmers on 2 accts so far. They are NOT a good insurance company to deal with. I also heard that they were about to go bankrupt. I'm using Geico, pay approx. $900 a year for full coverage. That is under my parent's insurance policy though. I would NOT deal with farmers anymore. When my car (95 Civic EX) got hit by a farmers insured person it took 3 mo. just talking to them when it should have been an easy deal. Dang agent kept going on "vacation". When I totaled the civic (again by a farmers insured) in April of 01, I just got my medical check March 02. Fortunately, I had gotten my property damage check before that (July 01) so I could get a new car, but seriously!! I have enough things to complain about FARMERs.

I work for Allstate, and I've rerated customer's mid-term (meaning during their policy period, it's not necessary to wait for the renewal to roll around) and I've seen a decrease of 200-300 dollars in their 6-month policy premium.

So, AllState is better than Farmers? I'll double check on yellow pages and see what other agents can give me. Thks!
