Get yourself an 0bd1 to 0bd2 conversion harness...but I would go ahead and change the timing belt and water pump, just because its much easier changing it when the motor is out of the car...and the fact that if it hasn't been changed, you'll need to changed it in about 20k miles anyway so get that outta the way. I would also change your alternator belt, wires, spark plugs, all your fluids, distributor, cap, and rotor.

i thought and OBDII engine could run OBD1, you just don't utilize the other sensors...?

Run obd-1 everything. There are a couple sensors you won't need. As for dist. Go buy an obd-1 dist. Obd-1 injectors. I don't know why people would even consider using obd-2 wiring, when the car is already setup for obd-1. Just run whatever wires to whatever sensors you need. If your car is a gsr, then you really won't need anything. If it's an ls, then you'll have to run some wires.

Better question is what do you have left over from your obd-1 motor? Take your obd-1 wiring harness and plug it into your obd-2 motor. You'll need the obd-1 dist, and injectors and maybe have to swap some sensors becuase they don't plug in right(don't quote me on that though).

ya sack master is correct, dont mess around with it, swapping harnesses is pretty straight forward. obd 1 engine bay. should stay obd1. I put a obd1 motor in my obd2 bay. keep them together. just swap injectors. and dizzy and a few other things. re wire the CAS to.

obd1 motors accept mods better. try and find an obd2 ecu chip.
