Gsr are p72.I recommended getting an obd1, it'll save you some time later down on the road. A stock gsr motor can handle a good amount of hp when boosting. One reason is because of oil squirters in the block. A t3 is a small turbo, so don't worry about building anything, you'll be fine. Just make sure you get the proper tuning and all those other minor accessories needed for a reliable/effective turbo build.

For a small turbo setup like you plan on doing, a GSR head doesn't need to be touched unless it has a great amount of miles on it. It's the block you want to look into. Such as piston/rings, rods, ect. You should even be fine with the stock sleeves.

I'd ask these questions in the Forced Induction forum, as I'm not to experienced in turbo builds, and don't want to mislead you in anyway.

Absolutly correct. Don't start spending money until you know exactly what you're buying, and what it's function is.

You don't want to take the money you earn working twelve hour days and buy the wrong parts with it because you didn't have time to research. You're only going to get others opinions on here anyway, YOU need to look into what you buy before you decide to go with it, nobody can tell you what to do.

The gsr head from the factory is pretty solid. For a mild boost application i would say leave it stock or maybe a set of stainless valves if you plan on running it hard for long lengths of time.
