Ok I have a 1993 Integra RS and I am having Ignition Syatem difficulties. I have recently done a full tune up (plugs, wires, coil pack, rotor, and the ignition control module). All were authentic Acura/Honda parts no cheapo crap. Ok explanation. A couple months back the car was running kinda crappy so I did a tune up myself. It had been a while so it needed it. After about a month the battery died and i ended up having to replace that as well. So when I got the new battery and put it in car fired up no problem. After a minute of running car shut off on it's own. Not good I thought. I didn't have time to mess with it so I took it to my mechanic who I've been using for since I started driving. Good guy honest I trust em. He says ICM (ignition control mondule) blew needs to be replaced. Ok no problem I've never really had problems with my Teg I figured fix it and that would be all. So about a month/month and a half later I go out to start my car and it doesn't start. I'm kinda pissed at this point so I fins a new mechanic cause my old one was getting shady he's the leading Honda tech at the honda dealership around here very trustworthy, many of my friends recommended him. Take it to him he says new coil. Ok put it in and a couple weeks later it's acting weird again.
Ok symptoms: Very erratic revs either when i really get on it ( kinda jumps around about say from 4500 rpm to 5200 then down to 4300 back to 5000 etc), sometimes when driving starts losing spark rpm's fail off to zero then it will jump up to say normal rpm for that particular speed and even just die altogether, after dying letting it sit for a couple hours and it will usually run for a little while before dying again. Like I said above all ignition system parts have been replaced with authentic acura/honda parts (wires, ngk plugs, cap rotor) although the ICM I do not know about. I fear my first mechanic messed something up in there to cause this problem because he put some real crap parts on my car before I ended up changing the plugs and wires after he did (he used some crap autolite plugs, junk wires, and some foreign crappy coil pack, my new mechanic was not impressed and needless to say neither was I when I found out). Anyways is it possible since the only thing that possibly isn't authentic is the ICM that my other mechanic messed something up in there to cause this problem. Any help is appreciated. I tryed to explain this as well as possible and if anyone has questions I will answer them to the best of my ability. Please help and thanx for reading thru this long winded post.

how does the engine speed change that durastically if the car is in gear? it must buck like hell. i'd say if you have to let the car sit for a few hours before it'll start, i'd check the harness for continuity leading to the dizzy and i'd check the pgmfi relay. also might want to look at ignition switch.
ask your new mechanic to throw it on an ignition scope and a 4 gas analyzer. that should figure it out quick.

The car doesn't really buck or anything thing like that but you can watch the tach go kinda loopy and hear the engine speed kinda jump around. It only really dies after a couple months when the coil is about shot. Something has to be pushing to much current thru it or causing it to overextend for it to burn out that quickly. The fuel relay is good tho I know that. It's one of the first thing my new mechanic checked said they tend to go bad in older cars. The problem is spark and something associated with that. Hopefully something can be figured out thanx for the ideas
