I own a 2001 Acura gsr, she's treated me good until just recently I've had trouble where at times she doesn't want to turn back on after a good lil drive, I've changed distributor, fuel pump fuel filter, also main relay, the car runs great and does not shut off while I drive it, it will turn back on after a few cranks, any ideas on what that could be ?

 

there is a cable\group of wires that run from the ignition to the underdash fuse box, I have had this go bad and cause random issues

When it won't start what happens, cranks no start etc ...

 

Yeah it will crank but won't turn over, it will eventually turn on after a few tries, then idiles low th high then back to regular idile

 

Coolant temperature sensor?

 

It reads tempeture fine, the needle stays stationary when it's reaches the ideal temp

 

Sounds like a bad ICM in the distributor, was the other distributor you used new or used?

 

The other distributor was oem just had a new cap and rotor, and it had the same symtoms that why I got a brand new one thinking that would solve the problem

 

check your spark plugs maybe there super corroded or something

 

I was looking at the distributor a couple of days ago, while I was there I looked at the spark plugs and there still very new no brown residue

 

are all your engine bay grounds clean and tight ?

 

check that thermostat ground.

 

Those are my two grounds thermostat and the motor, they look ok to me what you think ?

 

They seem fine it still sounds like its a ignition/spark issue.

 

had a similar issue in my Mustang, had to remove the distributor and change the PIP Sensor (Profile ignition pickup) check to see if you have one in your Dizzy.

 

I'm not to sure if Honda has that, I think for Honda it's a icm (ignition control module)

I'm really thinking it's the ignition lock cylinder, I'm thinking of purchasing this one, but my key has a chip in it, am I gonna have to swap over the face of the old one over to this new to make it work ? Or will these new keys work just fine ?

 

I would try the cable first its much cheaper if you are not 100%

So it was a hacked up ignition harness causing the issue?

 

Yeah It's seems like that was the issue, because ive been driving it around and so far so good, I also had put brand new ngk spark cables

 

Cant go wrong with NGK cables!

 

They probably at some point had an aftermarket alarm installed and hacked it
