Hydrolic or Cable
My stock clutch went on my car the other day. I got a 92 DA and i just replaced it with a new cable clutch but I am very uphappy with the work that was done. My mechanic did most of the work because I got school, work, plus i don't have the tools to do it elsewhere. But now I am wondering if i should re replace it again with a hydrolic clutch to work better. I just wanted to know if it was any differant than the cable and how much more or less it cost than the cable one.
Its not a "clutch" difference. Its a transmission/chassis difference. Hydraulic has a clutch master cylinder and a clutch slave cylinder. The pedal is connected to the master cylinder (which is much like a brake master cylinder) with a rod, the rod pushes a piston which pushes fluid, the fluid goes through the lines to the slave cylinder which pushes out and pushes the throwout fork.
A Cable transmission has no hydraulic system and is simply a cable that goes from the clutch pedal to the throwout fork. Thus, the clutch isnt different but the pedal and transmission are different. The throwout forks are quite different so its not an easy conversion (though hasport does make a conversion kit). Anyway, basically if you are unhappy with the clutch, its either something binding your cable or just a cheap/shitty clutch (or a race clutch that is uber stiff). Why are you unhappy with it?

Assuming your clutch was installed correctly, you should have the clutch adjusted via the black **** on the clutch cable. Hopefully this will give your clutch the feel that you want.
Both hydrolic and cable trannys have their pro's and con's, but both, properly installed and adjusted (cable), should provide a good driving experience.
