How to setup for AutoX
Ok. Since I raced for my first time sunday, I want to increase my cars performance for AutoXing.
Can any one provide me with some insight as to what all I need, and what brands are good?
I know I need better brakes: Brands?
Supercharger instead of Turbo? (this is up in the air) Pro's and cons please?
CoilOver Kit
Rear Sway Bar
Front tower brace.
what else..
want to get the car atleast some what ready for next year.
thanks

You could probably increase your tire width a bit. I'm running the same tires you have but 205/50/r15's. Don't know how much this would help ya, but can't be anyworse, they also have 205/40's i think, but a little bit more expenisve than the 50's.
i also like to have the rear tires a lot stiffer, and same with the rear suspension...
i like to swing my *** around...
depending on the course, learning how to double clutch into first is key.....
when u have a 9k rev limit, lol, jk

I wouldn't even think about turbo or supercharging untill you've auto-x'd for 2-3 season's. First of all it will put you in a class where it's mostly professional's with fully mod'd race cars. Second it really doesn't make that much of a difference unless you have a really nice suspension, and the skills to put that power to the ground.
I auto-x'd my LS for a full season this past year, it was my 3rd season overall, but 1st season with any FWD import. I had pretty good sucess, and was able to keep close to a fully mod'd GSR with triple the go-fast goods, and way better tires. also able to school many porsches and bmws and others. (Tires is everything in auto-x....get yourself some R-compounds and you'll love it more!)
Mod's I had for most of season - ITR bar, AEM CAI, and 10 year old beat to **** R-compound yoko's tires. End of the season I got Comptech springs and used Tokico blues. I wish I waited for a good suspension

What I'd get if, I had money and to do it over again is.
GroundControl Coil-overs f450 / r600 rates
Koni adjustable's (yellows)
yoko Advan 032's 205/50/15's or Victoracers same size
ITR Rear sway
Spoon FSTB / RSTB
Comptech rear brace (forget what it's called, but it mounts near the rear sway)
Then if you still have money burning a hole in your pocket...
B16 Tranny (super short gears) w/ LSD or ITR trans (comes w/ LSD)
OR even just and nice aftermarket LSD in your existing tranny (Quaife, KAAZ, etc.)
Exhaust is really one of the biggest waste of money for a honda, they are already tuned quite well, I'd get the 'ole Comptech Icebox before I did that, then maybe, maybe after all above is said and done, waste some money on a ITR full exhaust.
Good luck! And don't let anyone tell you the LS isn't worth $hit for auto-x....I kicked *** against cars that would roast me on the road (wrx, RSX, certain non-4dr GSR's

Thanks for the info..
yea.. the LS did pretty good..
It was my first time running and I came in second place.
Inigo9910 beat me and he has a GSR but has been racing longer and has some mods...
I will probably have about $2k to spend before next march when everything starts back up...
also, what about neuspeed coilover kit? is that any good? or should I stick with the groundcontrol..
aslo, does any one have a website for some of this stuff?
Thanks

heh, already planning for next year? what about that 280Z V-8 conversion
i have to choose what to spend money on.. its getting difficult..
The best money you can spend is on driving school! Drive your car stock for one full season on street tires and attend a driving school or two. That will help to develop good driving habits and instincts, then you can start worrying about what mods to perform to your car the next year. Otherwise, you'll get in this viscous cycle of continually adding new parts (spending more $$) trying to make the car faster, when in reality it's not the car that's holding you back.
Remember autocrossing is about 90% driver, 10% car. Just my $.02

this is true, driving school is an excellent investment.

I think thats there website. Forget the neuspeed coilsovers

typer_801 is almost right. Autocross is actually 90% driver, 5% car and 5% magic voodoo. Seriously, though. If you have $2K to spend my suggestion would be to put some sticky street rubber on the car (not R compound), maybe put on some kick *** brake pads and then buy lots of time at drivers schools. For $2k you could attend a couple of Evolution schools and some local schools.
I guarantee that as a rookie, if you decide to add other parts to your car you will not see a speed increase.
I speak from experience as well. I autocrossed twice in my completely stock GSR. I then came into some money and thought I should build the suspension, put on wheels and tires, etc. Went out to my third event and had a hell of a time trying to work the car. It took me the rest of the season and a few drivers schools to really figure it out and use it to its full potential. It's been three seasons now, and I've barely made any additional changes to the car. The only change has been a rear sway bar and different tires every season.
