You could prob search for "DIY Intake" or something like that and find it. I'll look around and try to find it for you. I know I saw the instructions on a website, just have to remember which one.
Break open the resonator box and take the black "U" shaped tube out. I cut the tube in the bend at the bottom of the "U". You can then angle it like the comptech tube with hose clamps and a piece of rubber hose like what comes with aftermarket intakes.
Use the $500 toward a nitrous kit.

I'm using something very much like that. Though I started with the AEM CAI. I ran a flexible tube(4" dryer hose) from the inlet in my ww air dam to the bottom of the stock airbox. Because of the angle the airbox sits at I can only use 2 of the 3 mounting bolts for it, but the setup works fabulously and yesterday it rained all day. I drove right through a 6" deep mini lake that my lowered teg w/ AEM CAI would've had a fit with.
I am using BSQ's DIY icetake with a short ram intake, it is great! Very light, and fits well with the stock airbox
Get that!!!
As for using the K&N filter, don't bother. It's going to cost you around $70 to get the filter. You might as will go on ebay and buy a K&N Typhoon for your car ($135), the filter of the intake will rest right where the airbox is, with some homedepot material you can seal it in the stock airbox. Then take out the resenator and put in the icetake from BSQ, you got yourself a Comptech icebox clone! Good luck!
I'll post some pictures of my intake when I get hold of a digital camera.
