how to get a good start with automatic
this is a question again for my friend which has an automatic and he's curious if anyone knows how to get a good jump off the line with an automatic. How many rpms should you rev up to, if you even do that with an automatic. So any automatic owners out there that have an idea or can offer advice, please post, thanx
hold down brake pedal with left foot....rev the car, it will have a stall speed meaning the max it'll rev at when the brake is applied (i.e. 2500rpm) and then sidestep the brake pedal when you wanna go.....dont let it sit there revving at that constant speed without moving for awhile, just do it for a second right before you wanna take off
That is about the only thing that you can do with your automatic tranny that could possibly damage it ... thats pretty much the same thing as neutral drops ...
i mean you can probably get away with doing it a lot .. but youll risk poss fraggin that tranny over time ..
as far as safest off the line ... just leave it in drive ... when you floor it ... it will rev all the way to redline before it shifts anyway ... off the line is where your auto tranny will have its most advantage vs a manual ...
while your cruising and you hear the tranny shift all the way up to the 4th gear ... cruise just under 2500 rpmzz in my nteg thats around 5x MPH and down shift into third and floor it .. it actually will drop 2 gears into 2nd gear and youll have a good jump

this is the method i use...start off in firstand shift through the gears...have fun and good luck...
